Tamar Wine Route
The Tamar Valley is perfect for cool-climate wine production, which is evident in the array of vineyards in the region. A drive along a signed route will guide drivers from vineyard to vineyard through stunning valleys, along beautiful river views, and past enchanting rows of grape vines. Visitors can stop at thirteen vineyards along the route: Strathlynn, St. Mathias, Rosevears, Moores Hill, Tamar Ridge, Holm Oak, Bay of Fires, Delamere, Dalrymple, Pipers Brook, Brook Eden, Clover Hill, and Providence. From Launceston, drive northwest on the A7 highway toward Beauty Point. Then, simply follow the Wine Route signs.
Along the West Tamar River, visit the scenic point of Brady's Lookout. This was the lair of the bushranger Mathew Brady who used the high vantage point to locate his intended victims. Brady's Lookout is now an excellent place to pause and view the Tamar River in all its splendour. Located halfway between Launceston and The Batman Bridge.
