Batman Bridge

This amazing road bridge was the world's first cable-stayed truss bridge when built in 1968! Located 30km north of Launceston and 5 minutes from The Tamar River Retreat, it crosses the beautiful Tamar River and reaches 96m high.
Stroll down to Bonnie Beach and fish with the Batman Bridge as a picturesque backdrop.


Seahorse World

Seahorse World provides a unique insight into the mystical, intriguing and lovable seahorse from birth, in a working farm. When touring the working aquarium you will be accompanied by informative guides providing an educational experience. At Seahorse World you will be introduced to the Weedy Sea Dragon, Pipe Fish, Fresh Water Lobsters and other endangered species.


Beaconsfield Mine & Museum

Explore the Grubb Shaft mine, iron smelter, water wheel and battery. Discover what it was really like to live as a miner. Working models really bring our displays to life. View the impressive collection of steam-engines and social displays in the new building.


Lavender House

Enjoy a relaxed look at Tasmania’s special lavender fields, an informative tour of the horticultural aspects of their seventy different varieties of lavender, photo opportunities and an insight into the many uses of lavender and the way they incorporate its therapeutic values into the products we manufacture.

Hillwood Strawberry Farm

There is a lot to enjoy at the Hillwood Strawberry Farm, strawberry and raspberry picking, cheese and wine tasting, gourmet shop and more! Visitors can also tiptoe through the tulips, daffodils, and rhododendrons in the beautiful surrounding gardens.


Artisan Gallery & Wine Centre

A lovely scenic drive from Launceston is the Artisan Gallery and Wine Centre. Visitors are invited to inspect the gallery of contemporary handmade crafts and original Australian artwork. Pieces are also available for purchase. Wine tastings are also offered here in the largest wine-producing region of the state. Artisan Gallery is located in the beautiful West Tamar valley in northern Tasmania, Australia. This region is the gateway to the northern wine district, famous for its pinots and rieslings.


Tamar Wine Route

The Tamar Valley is perfect for cool-climate wine production, which is evident in the array of vineyards in the region. A drive along a signed route will guide drivers from vineyard to vineyard through stunning valleys, along beautiful river views, and past enchanting rows of grape vines. Visitors can stop at thirteen vineyards along the route: Strathlynn, St. Mathias, Rosevears, Moores Hill, Tamar Ridge, Holm Oak, Bay of Fires, Delamere, Dalrymple, Pipers Brook, Brook Eden, Clover Hill, and Providence. From Launceston, drive northwest on the A7 highway toward Beauty Point. Then, simply follow the Wine Route signs.


Brady's Lookout

Along the West Tamar River, visit the scenic point of Brady's Lookout. This was the lair of the bushranger Mathew Brady who used the high vantage point to locate his intended victims. Brady's Lookout is now an excellent place to pause and view the Tamar River in all its splendour. Located halfway between Launceston and The Batman Bridge.
